Founded in 2003, the mission of Leeds Asperger Adults (LAA) has always been to act as a support group for adults with Asperger’s Syndrome and other forms of high-functioning autism in the Leeds area. Throughout our time, we have held big fundraising events, successfully campaigned for an autism diagnostic service in Leeds and have helped to get many adults with Asperger’s to improve their lives.
Right now, the purpose of LAA is to try and improve the lot of autistic adults city-wide. We intend to do so through holding monthly meetings, providing useful information and advice to whoever needs it and hosting additional events to help raise funds and educate people about how autistic people in Leeds are suffering due to the lack of opportunities which come our way.
Here is a list of people who help with the day-to-day running of LAA:
- Eric Tait – Chairperson
- Margaret Tait – Treasurer
- Jonathan Cravitz – Secretary
- Felicity Savage – Committee Member
On the first Tuesday of every month, LAA hold meetings at the Leeds Civic Hall where we discuss certain issues affecting the autistic community in Leeds and try to answer whatever questions we are asked. They take place from 6.45pm to 8.30pm. All people are welcome to attend.
